Recognizing the importance and value of family visitation our agency has been working closely with the Westchester County Health Department and the New York State Commission of Corrections throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic to determine when it would be safe to resume some form of on-site family visits. As part of that collaboration we have received approval to resume limited pre-scheduled non-contact family visitation beginning Tuesday June 1, 2021. This date and related provisions are subject to change and visitation can be suspended again should there be an increased infection rate at our agency, or if COVID-19 conditions change in our region. I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding during these unprecedented and extraordinary times. — Commissioner Joseph K. Spano.

The following provisions and guidelines will be in place to support the new visitation process.

  1. All visits must be scheduled by telephone in advance - no walk up appointments allowed. To expedite the sign-up process, be prepared to provide your name, phone number, e-mail address and mailing address at the time of scheduling.

  2. Incarcerated individuals will be limited to one 45-minute visit per week, Monday through Friday. This schedule is designed to ensure that interested family members have an opportunity to safely visit once weekly and to provide staff the opportunity to clean and disinfect visitation areas between visits.

  3. All family visits will be non-contact at this time and take place in secure booth areas-no exceptions.

  4. Incarcerated individuals in quarantine or isolation will not be permitted to visit until they are cleared by medical services.

  5. All visitors should report to the Jail Post-1 entrance location 20 minutes prior to the start of their scheduled visit.

  6. All visitors must print and complete the Visitor Health Screening form to be submitted on their scheduled visitation day. If an individual’s temperature is 100.4 degrees or higher or the individual is showing any COVID-19 symptoms, the visitor will be turned away. The visitor can return at a later date, once medically cleared by a physician.

  7. Visitors must adhere to all COVID-19 travel advisories in place at the time of visitation, including individuals who have traveled to New York from another state. Read the state's travel advisory for more information.

  8. All visitors must bring and wear a facemask or face covering before entering our facility grounds. When visitors enter our main visitation lobby they will be provided with a surgical mask that must be worn at all times during the visit. Incarcerated individuals will also wear a surgical facemask during the visit. This is consistent with the current State Department of Health rules for correctional facilities.

  9. Social distancing will be enforced including maintaining a six-foot distance from other people.

  10. Out of the abundance of caution, a maximum of one adult and one child under the age of 18 will be allowed to visit at this time. Any visitor under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will be required to provide proof of relationship, i.e. birth certificate or guardianship documentation.

Our agency will closely monitor this new limited visitation process; and through collaboration with the Westchester County Health Department and State Commission of Correction, we will modify as deemed appropriate and safe.

Failure to follow any of the above-mentioned rules may result in the termination of the visit.
