Recognizing the importance and value of family visitation, our agency worked closely with the Westchester County Department of Health and the New York State Commission of Correction to develop a plan to commence with limited family visitation beginning in June 2021. As part of that announcement, I cautioned that limited family visitation would be subject to change based on the COVID-19 infection rate at our agency and conditions in our region. Unfortunately, there has been a recent spike of Omicron COVID-19 cases in our region, causing adjustments to area COVID-19 restrictions and limiting previously approved activity.

As a result, after consultation with the Department of Health and the State Commission of Correction, out of the abundance of caution, I am suspending family visitation effective Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021. Until such time that it’s deemed safe to resume on-site limited family visitation, our agency will continue to initiate measures that assist our residents in remaining connected with their families. Additionally, to support a safe and healthy environment for both staff and residents, we will continue to proactively apply measures that are designed to prevent, detect and respond to any suspected cases of COVID-19.

Family visits can be scheduled virtually using our Securus Video Visitation System.

Thank you again for your continued patience and understanding during this extraordinary public health crisis. ~ Commissioner Joseph K. Spano

Additionally, temporary procedures for in-person professional visits have been established.
